I featured this game as one of the first 3 NES games added to HOUDINI's curated selection of indie games, modern classics if you will. https://erikhoudini.com/the_crypt/arcade/
I love this game! Currently trying to star every song (I’ve got up to the difficulty 5s so far)
a simple, clean, but incredibly well executed take on a VSRG on a platform that should never have been able to run one. Music slaps too. Great game!
Edit: just unlocked a code that changes just about everything, which is a cool way to add an extra challenge to the songs! Won't say the code, but I will give a hint:
Very, VERY late reply, but, if you still haven't figured it out and still would like to know, it's the B key (not sure if A also works). I was also very confused about that part.
I just made an account to write this comment and tell you how hard the menu song bops. It REALLY bops and if I can put it on loop I definitely will. The music in this game is awesome, but since I'm a noob at games I can't complete a whole song. But it's really nice to have a lot of options, it might make it a lot easier for me to learn playing this game.
amazing game! really hope you'll come back to this for updates and stuff. i've had a lot of fun this far and hopefully i'll have even more by the time i can tackle the really hard charts c:
I've only played a little but WOW! The songs sound great and they play so nicely! I wanna get a NES and a Flash Cart just to play this on a real NES! I'm curious if other rhythm games for retro consoles are a possibility now.. Playing a VSRG on my gameboy color? Dream come true..!

whats the diff between the blue and red notes? are they just timing indicators for quavers/off-beat notes? :P
Yes, exactly. Red notes are on-beat, blue notes are off-beat.
cool! i like that detail. very nice 👍

Hey, I'm working on a beat mapper app for music-based games. It's called MBOY Editor (https://vfpe.itch.io/mboy-editor) Do you want to try it for your game? Vic

omg 10/10 looks easy but is MUCH harder than FNF
That's because FNF is easy. Almost anything is harder than FNF
I can see how much love came into this game. Are there frequent updates to this game, or are you leaving it as is?
I found it best to set controls to dfghjk because it SOOOO much easier!
shaggy fnf 6 key be like :
you use controller here not keyboard
I LOVE this game, it was the main game that made me get into rhythm games, is there anywhere I can listen to the ost on its own?
Here you go https://soundcloud.com/cardboard_box/sets/hyperbeatz-1
Any chance you could add it to Spotify as well? That would be sweet...

Edit: I finally got the hang of it!
Its a fun game.
I would suggest adding some sort of sound visualiser for those who can't play with sound(My tuition PC has no speakers)
I really like that there is an option to change scroll speed, I think ill add that to my game too! :D
There should also be a show of what BPM the song is played at. Nothing needed, just a small detail. :)
Really fun rhythm game. I've never seen a rhythm game for the NES.
BTW, will you release the OST somewhere? In Spotfy, Soundcloud, Deezer, YouTube Music, etc. In any music streamming service?
Also, do you have a release date for your "Typing rhythm game", I saw your video about it and I'm looking foward for it.
i dont want to see any FNF COMMENT
I WANT THIS GAME COMMENT
[fnf comment]
how i start
You'll need a NES emulator like Mesen: https://www.mesen.ca/
Then download the game and open the .nes file in Mesen.
Edit: I also added a web version you can play in browser. It doesn't run as well as on emulator but it involves no setup.
THANKS
i did that but whats he start key
